Mexico’s beloved band Hello Seahorse! returns with new music and an indication of a new chapter with “EL FINAL” taken off their upcoming album HÍPER. The announcement comes along with a 16-date U.S. Tour throughout June 2023 including stops in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Houston before the trio, Denise Gutierrez, Bonnz, and Burgos continue touring in Mexico.
“EL FINAL (the end)” reflects an ending that must happen in order for anything new to come, and in this revelation, acceptance is a required step. Gutierrez’s signature transcendent vocals merge with a touch of pain as the track encapsulates this concluding phase, possibly transitioning into a sense of relief in the latter half: “Estoy tan cerca (I’m so close)/Cada vez más cerca del final (Getting closer to the end).”
The driving electronic pulses weave in and out akin to a Rolodex of memories. Fitting, there’s a wash of nostalgia as the track explores a more electronic soundscape. The wavering tempo and electronica elements provide a glimpse of what lies ahead, but more so a bittersweet closing of one chapter for the band.
