カメレオン・ライム・ウーピーパイCHAMELEON LIME WHOOPIEPIE Invite Us To Their World On ‘Mushroom Beats’

Japan's trio continue to fuse genres on their latest 8-bit inspired track and video.

Japan’s CHAMELEON LIME WHOOPIEPIE release their latest electronica cut “Mushroom Beats” ahead of their SXSW performances March 17 and 18. The trio fronted by Chi and bandmates known as Whoopies No. 1 and Whoopies No. 2, continue to blend genres and craft futuristic sounds that are captivating and drown out the background noise.

On “Mushroom Beats,” the trio do not disappoint. They maintain their sense of identities and have fun with the electronica and 8-bit sounds. The lively and lush single flourishes from subtle funk and jazz undertones to a vibrant wash of electronic color.

The accompanying visual takes note of the video game influence and places Chi through various levels of a vintage arcade game. The retro inspired animation leads towards an engaging battle where victory doesn’t come at the cost of enjoyment, but through it, this case being the mushroom beats.

The colorful word also sees the trio directing, editing, and acting as the cinematographers; showcasing more of their talent. Shifting preconceived notions of pop music, the trio are an eclectic group to pay attention to this year. From dreamy soundscapes heard on tracks such as “LaLaLa” to more indie rock sounds, CLWP are invigorating and charming upon each release
