Coinciding with Women’s History Month, FEMcore debuts as a weekend showcase to celebrate women/womxn in music, specifically women-fronted bands, this March throughout venues in the Los Angeles area. Presented by The Cobalt, in association with Radford Media Group (RMG) and Audioeclectica, the event will also be giving partial proceeds from all events to RAINN– the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization.
The event will feature 6 shows — with 4 events being announced as of now and the remainder will be unveiled over the next week — and will be concluded by a special March 25th show at Hotel Ziggy, hosted by Erika Eleniak with guests Doll Riot, Speed of Light, Minor Strut, Cowboy Destroy and The Anti-Groupies. Those not in the LA area can purchase tickets now for a live stream via Stageit.
Other host venues include The Knitting Factory in North Hollywood, and Tarzana based venues Corbin Bowl and The Last Call.
The purpose of FEMcore is not only to bring more attention to women-fronted bands and songwriter/musicians, but to also use the events as a reminder that the music community needs to better understand ways to support women/womxn who are victims of sexual violence.
FEMcore’s support of RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is crucial for progress across the country and is the largest program of it’s type. RAINN carries out programs to prevent sexual assault, help survivors and pursue justice through victim services, public education, public policy, and consulting services.
