German-Swedish siblings HAVET, comprised of Josy and Mimi, share their fuzzy alternative new single “Toxic” taken off their upcoming debut EP Muma’s Lullaby due August 11, 2022.
Following up their folksy, indietronica track “Child,” the latest sees HAVET manipulate ill-lighted tones and distortion for a composed bite that owns its space.
“‘Toxic’ is about getting free from a toxic relationship and finally realizing all the ways the other person treated you wrong,” shares Josy and Mimi.
The track takes a simple indie-rock lead which later develops into a textured atmospheric realm. Sharp tempo changes are to thank for this allurement which ultimately embraces static white noise, a youthful spirit, and confidence. These undertones of the track complement the vocals and overall concept of the track, while maintaining a good relationship with this lukewarm brightness of being “free.”
It’s a welcoming sound from the group and shows another aspect of their songwriting and arrangement, in comparison to their debut single, and is another layer in their continued growth.
