Philadelphia-based psych-pop outfit, Grubby Little Hands, share their latest single “Medicine Drawer” taken from their forthcoming album, World So Strange due April 15 via Side Hustle Records.
The self-medicated trip revolves around a deceitful dream-gaze and affirmations in order to self soothe. An act that most, if not all, may relate to hidden in their own medicine drawer. Led by leisurely vocals trimmed with surf-pop riffs, the track’s golden optimism brings to light the track’s motive of false warmth: “We lie to ourselves ’til we believe that it’s true.”
“Medicine Drawer” reads as a conversation, which can move between the ego and self or a falling relationship– fit to any connection. The backing vocals question, and in the same manner, comfort the lies. There’s a snugness in production, which as simple as it feels, provides the overall struggle of walking away from self-medication.
