Another unique aspect to the festival, given its name, are the 12 forts catered to different mediums of arts and features respective showcases and performances. From beer, films, to Drag Queens and Kings, there’s something for everyone and here are our favorites.
Alefort (March 27-29)
This is the tasting aspect of the festival. From March 27-29 discover new ales, gain some business knowledge, and wet your palette with local cuts of Boise.
Hard Seltzer, Beer Blending, Wines of the World (Friday @ 2 p.m.)
All three of these events start at 2 p.m. on Friday which means you aren’t going anywhere for at least an hour.
Be a Girl: Navigating the Male-Dominated World of Restaurant Kitchens (Idaho State Museum, Friday March 27 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm)
Copper & Heat challenges unspoken rules and traditions of restaurant kitchens through the stories of people that work in them.
Fresh Picks (starting at 2 p.m. on Friday and 12 p.m. on Saturday & Sunday)
Fresh Picks will be comprised of pizza to pantry snacks and sautéed bites, made with 100 percent Idaho-grown ingredients. Alefort is all ages until 5 pm
Sunday Brunch: Comedy, Drag, and Brunch (Sunday @ 12:30 p.m.)
Artfort (first official year)
Luma Jasim is interdisciplinary Iraqi-born artist based in Brooklyn, NY. She expresses personal and political commentary through a variety of mixed-mediums.
Deity is a self-taught painter, muralist, and street artist, that has painted her way throughout Los Angeles, San Gabriel Valley, to Mexico, Canada, Italy, France, Spain, Japan and India. Currently living in Ontario, California, Deity plans to keep collaborating with other international artists to help inspire the next generation of female street artists.
Filmfort MARCH 26-28, 2020
Filmfort is a 3-day festival celebrating the best of emerging independent cinema during Treefort Music Fest. Here are some films that stand out.
Irene Tu (Main Stage, Friday March 27 @ 8 p.m.)
Irene Tu is a stand-up comedian, actor, and writer based in San Francisco and is truly memorable.
Alysia Brown (comedy fort)
Alysia Brown is a stand up comic originally from South Bend, Indiana. When she escaped from Indiana, she moved to Los Angeles to start comedy but realized New York was where it was at.
Dragfort 2020 will happen every day of Treefort (March 25-29) and is open to anyone with a Treefort Pass. All events at The Balcony are 21+.
Hackfort is about celebrating all things tech. It’s not your typical conference and runs from March 27-28, 2020.
