Nostalgic line-ups allow a certain joy that will truly last you for the rest of your life, especially if that era defined you. OC’s Chain Reaction have been a staple in the community of Southern California for those getting their feet wet for shows and cultivated the scene of the early 2000s.
As for Chain Fest, a larger scale of the scene was brought to life. Since the fest’s hiatus after its 20th anniversary in 2016, the unknown lingered until last year Live Nation “announced a strategic partnership” with the venue.
Alas, Live Nation and Chain Reaction have resurrected the one-day fest with Jimmy Eat World and Taking Back Sunday leading the way on Saturday May 23 at FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine, California. Also featuring notables who will revisit iconic albums, such as Circa Survive’s Blue Sky Noise and Glass Jaw’s Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Silence.
Chain Fest 2020 will also be raising money for Living The Dream Foundation, a non-profit that helps children and young adults living with life-threatening illnesses stay positive, maintain hope, and appreciate each and every day, regardless of their affliction.
Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. PST. Just like Chain Reaction, the event is all ages with tickets starting at $59 GA.
This writer was an angsty show goer who frequented Chain Reaction more than 15 years ago and this line-up is pure joy.
