Eliza & The Delusionals ‘Just Exist’

Eliza & The Delusionals are one of the most quintessential indie-bands on the rise thanks to their ever addicting track "Just Exist" which now takes them as openers for Silversun Pickups' 2020 tour.

Eliza & The Delusionals are one of the most quintessential indie-bands on the rise thanks to their ever addicting track “Just Exist,” produced by Kon Kersting, which garnered a slew of attention as their U.S. debut. The Australian ensemble take cues from early alternative bands and illustrate a broader realm of where pop fits without discord. On “Just Exist,” Eliza & The Delusionals lounge in a hypothetical state, building towards a jubilant existence.

“‘Just Exist’ is about the balance of feeling depressed and feeling creative and inspired by those feelings,” shares Eliza Klatt. “I find a lot of my best and most inspired creative ideas have come from some of the saddest and worst feelings I’ve ever felt which is very bittersweet. I hate feeling down but if I didn’t feel that way I think I would plainly just exist.”

In attempt to find a balance, the track replicates the bittersweet pleasure of misery that accompanies being alive in the midst of contemplation: “Do you feel alive? / Or are you just killing time?” Klatt’s vocals are dreamy during the first half and soak in the 3-minute build up. The aftermath is a guitar driven expulsion which feeds Klatt’s sharp tone.

Bringing to fruition a successful existence, the black and white visual sees tour life and a gracious demeanor from the band. One that continues to rise and places them as the main support for Silversun Pickups on their West Coast leg of their 2020 U.S. tour.
