LA-based party Made to Move, moves their party into the sunshine featuring a hefty line-up of some of LA’s premier DJs. Debuting a number of house, techno, and disco acts, the event focuses on creating a friendly atmosphere for all to enjoy. Founded by Akumen, Andy Oro, and Jasmine, Made to Move began throwing parties last year and quickly gained an audience with its welcoming environment. As host Akumen shares, “we want our event to feel accessible to anyone, even if our music isn’t what they always listen to. If they aren’t necessarily into house music, I hope they walk out with a newfound appreciation for it.”

The day kicks off with DJ sets from Made to Move organizers Akumen and Andy Oro. As a monthly resident DJ, Akumen always delivers a refined and eclectic set. The producer’s EPs Sunset Rhodes and Stress Relief recall his soulful sound in anticipation of his latest release “Inner Life”, coming out on on vinyl as part of a 12 Inches Deep – Hot Dime Recordings compilation later this year. Andy Oro co-runs LOUD GIRLS along with organizer Jasmine which manages Made to Move and hosts a monthly music talk show on Virtual Public Network. Her set anticipates a polished selection of house and disco edits.

Travis Holcombe follows the DJs delivering his funk oriented sounds, bringing a variety of deep cuts and unique tunes every weeknight from 10pm-midnight on 89.9 FM. Also joining the line-up is LA native Juliet Mendoza. An ambassador to house music and dance for several years, Mendoza’s involvement among the local scene has led her to create Jill’s House, a platform for womxn idenitfiying DJs to share their sound with the house community.

The most anticipated set of the day comes from Colored Craig, an LA based creator whose visionary pursuits have led him to become a choreographer, creative director, and DJ. Currently one of the most sought out and acclaimed act’s among LA’s underground house scene, Colored Craig’s recent Boiler Room has projected him into the spotlight. With other legendary sets at Black Lodge, Directory, and more, the artist is sure to bring an energetic performance.

With a stacked line up of some of the underground’s best, Made to Move transitions into Made to Swim, the pool party you don’t want to miss. With ideal weather slated for June 30th, come boogie at Hotel Figueroa from 2-8pm. As Andy Oro explains, “we try our best to understand our audience to keep giving them what they want as we grow. Our friends are one of the main reasons our event grew so fast. They are the ones who helped create the friendly ‘house party’ ambiance and without their support, our event wouldn’t be what it is today.”
