Tangled in the dust bowl sound and swing of Americana, comes LA’s Desure. The former touring manager for Midland — who’s taste as an opener led to pursing music full time — shared yesterday his latest retrospective video for the endearing track, “Los Angeles.”
The Collin Duddy direction showcases Desure with an expressionless face as the city bleeds from scene to scene. The monotony is shown with Desure as Los Angeles twinkles with joy and its signature skyscraper. As the visuals dance to the melody of a dusty guitar, a bared reflection seeps within the first few lines of the track. “Well, Los Angeles, you’re killing me / Lord, I can’t live on two hours sleep,” quips Desure to only close the thought with admiration, “even when the sky turns black, we all laugh it off with ease.”
Beneath the various shots and life that Desure holds, the track maintains a crisp echo before transmitting hidden passion, anger, and happiness in a burst of clenching vocals towards the end. A perfect balance to the city that holds so many creatives, dreams, and love, which Desure effortlessly portrays.
“This song means a lot to me so I wanted the video to portray the emotional viewpoint that I felt while writing it. This is why I chose to shoot in the house that I sing about in the first verse of the song, and various locations around Los Angeles. This city has a big place in my heart.”
