This year has been a little rough in terms of festival line-ups, but it seems that the fresh pairing of Yola Fest is exactly what summer needed in Los Angeles. A day long festival in celebration of the arts, culture, and music by women makes it way to Los Angeles State Historic Park on June 8th, beginning at 3 p.m. and tickets will be on sale starting Friday, April 5th at 10 a.m. PT on Yola Fest’s website.
Yola Fest, named after and presented by YOLA Mezcal — a female-run mezcal brand based in Oaxaca, Mexico founded by Yola Jimenez, Lykke Li, and Gina Correll Aglietti — will continue the brand’s messaging and voice for females.
The Festival is also partnering with PLUS1 so that a portion of proceeds from every ticket sold will go to The Downtown Women’s Center in Los Angeles exclusively serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness and formerly homeless women.
Featuring star studded acts from the likes of Lykke Li, Charli XCX, Cat Power, CupcakKe, Megan Thee Stallion, Ambar Lucid, and with more artists to be announced, the event seems promising. Yola Fest will also feature a rare and special acoustic set from Courtney Love & The Chateau Band. Love’s set at the fest is perfectly timed, seeing as it is one week before the 25th anniversary of Hole’s seminal album, Live Through This (April 12, 1994).
The event is 21+ and will provide hydration stations (may bring empty refillable bottles), shade tents, and the fest will offer limited, paid parking spots adjacent to the park (Spring Street) on a first come, first serve basis; free street parking will be available. Yola Fest will also not allow or offer: in’s and outs, lockers, and professional cameras (unless requested press credentials) via the site’s FAQ.
Tickets will be on sale starting Friday, April 5th at 10 a.m. PT on Yola Fest’s website.
