NO WIN ‘Shelley Duvall’

NO WIN restores power-pop chords and juvenescence ahead of debut album, 'downey' out March 22nd via Dangerbird Records.

Stepping into a new aurora of alternative and slacker rock, producer, engineer, and former FIDLAR drummer Danny Nogueiras shares the latest single from his new musical project dubbed as NO WIN. Where society left a tinge of emotive rock in the mid 2000s, NO WIN restores that essence with power-pop chords and juvenescence.

On their latest single, “Shelley Duvall,” via Dangerbird Records, the track is a wistful harvest of bright guitars and memories of yesterday. Taken from their debut album, downey, which takes its name from the city Nogueiras grew up in, a heavy waft of Nogueiras’ memories make an appearance on the debut while aiming to move forward.

“Shelley Duvall” bears a pretty standard structure and glistens with summer vibes. Heavy guitar layers and punchy drumming guide the matter-of-fact cadence which hold the tender mindset of a new season, “you move so fast, it’s nice to go slow.” Sustaining a light attitude while sustaining the notion of all disgruntled youths have had of attempting to find a place alone with someone, “Shelly Duvall” could be the reunion of  high school crushes.

Mostly written over the course of a six-month period in the LA apartment Nogueiras was sharing with his wife, the journalistic and personal entry of “Shelley Duvall” is apparent. Later being recorded with bassist David Jerkovich (Kind Of Like Spitting, Novi Split), drummer Jeff Enzor (ex-Joyce Manor) and lead guitarist Juan Liñan, the project’s life acts as a new start for all.

“This feels like such an important thing,” he says. “It’s a culmination of so much work and years of doing other things and being in the studio and working with bands and so many different emotions and songwriting and time. It feels great.”

downey will be released 3/22 via Dangerbird Records.
