Eva B. Ross Pays Homage to ‘Nick’s House’

Eva B. Ross coasts with warm, jazz melodies and pays homage to the valley on her latest video "Nick's House."

Eva B. Ross lights a slow burning fuse on her latest track and video “Nick’s House.” The Los Angeles singer/songwriter, who is familiar within the local music scene, pays homage to the valley and dances around a warm vocal delivery paired with heavy jazz undertones, partially attributed to her time studying at Interlochen Arts and the Standford Jazz Vocal Residency. Casually coasting through the carefree vibes of the track, to the titular visual of Nick’s house, the attachments, memories, and simplicity mirror visiting a best friend.

Directed by Daniel Rashid and filmed by Gus Bendinelli, Marcella Cytrynowicz, and Avi Kaye, “Nick’s House” collects scenes throughout Los Angeles for a no place like home aesthetic. Time lapse shots quickly rotate on screen from Ross’ day to night travels as she rummages from specific moments within each verse.

Fusing forward from waterfall guitar notes, to a prominent and effortless rhythm section (that is neither loose or stiff while staying on time), Ross’ contemporary pop flare embellishments and vocal runs lead the overall feel of the track. Delicate breaks and versatility on Ross’ tone — which are soft early on — builds for a fuller grip and breezy attitude of good times in the Valley.
