Starting December 11th and onward to the 22nd, Goldenvoice will be taking over West Hollywood for a good cause. Jingle Bell Roxy will be 12 nights of Holiday-Themed shows that round up various Goldenvoice acts throughout 2018, as well as seasoned vets, to West Hollywood. Each show is all ages and will also serve as a donation drive for the Union Rescue Mission in DTLA. To continue the festivities, there will be door prizes and contests held each night, as well as a rumored notion that Santa Claus will be attending.
Goldenvoice encourages all show-goers to bring the following items which will be donated to the less fortunate:
- New Underwear: Men, Women & Children sizes
- Hygienic Items: Small Shampoos, Small Conditioners, Wipes, Soaps, Lotions, Hand Sanitizers, Tissues
- Twin size inflatable mattresses
Tickets range from $15 -25, varying per show, with The Buttertones, Nortec Collective, and Kinky rounding up the higher tier mark. Weighing out that there are at least 2-3 acts per bill, the price point is decent for acts that you might not see for a while, or haven’t due to various festivals.
Night one with Hazel English and Johnny Goth is recommended, as it’s been over year since H.E. has been to Los Angeles. Who could forget her cover of Interpol’s “PDA” featuring Day Wave? Night two features another gem, Yeek, who has been on GUM’s radar since 2015, dubbing multiple appearances as an “artist to watch.” QUITAPENAS stands out for night four, and if you haven’t witnessed Sad Girl yet, do so while you can still afford them.
If you didn’t sell your soul or kidney to grab a ticket for Thom York at the Orpheum Theatre, night nine may work, but a better substitute would be H.E.R. at The Novo ($39.50-49.50) or The Internet at the Hollywood Palladium (starting at $40).
And if everything else sucks and you only have $5, visit a local show, buy a toy or hygienic product, and pass on the good vibes.
