A Look At Madrid’s Emerging Electronic Music Scene

As an avid music listener I am constantly digging to see what is going on around me. Spending my semester abroad in Madrid, I’ve dug around the corners of the internet in hope of finding events and/or collectives focused on house and funk. As the club scene in Madrid is already a force to be reckoned with, I began with a simple google search of “House clubs in Madrid” and began to come across shows shaping Madrid’s current emerging electronic music scene.

Goya Social Club

Boasting both a local and international roster of quality house DJs, Goya Social Club is an essential space for Madrid’s house lovers. With visits from UK acts like NVOY and Karma Kid, and Aussie talents such as Hayden James and Young Franco, the venue is one of Madrid’s key tastemakers for electronic music. The venue is currently holding a residency with local act, ROOTS, and nights of dancing Thursday through Sunday.

FINE. at Ballesta Club

I came across Ballesta Club through a scroll of related Facebook events. Although I haven’t had the opportunity to attend a night there, a recent event by FINE. collective caught my attention. Ballesta is a space that hosts a range of house and techno music to keep you going all night long. However FINE. brings a future funk element to keep the atmosphere fun and danceable, similar vibes to those who are fans of Roche Musique. Their most recent night at Ballesta featured Valencia natives Kostrok and FAVSTO.

RARO. Events

Only recently had their opening night, RARO. makes a distinctive impression saying that they are “a different way of electronic music”. Bringing the electronic vibes every Wednesday night, RARO. brought Venezuelan DJ KIKA. to initiate their first residency at Le Boutique Club. RARO. holds a promising future as their next event hosts M∀T∆, who is set to deliver an energetic set with “Funk, Nu Disco, deephouse or tech house”.
