Fresh off a collaborative showcase with LA based collective Brownies & Lemonade, Red Bull Sound Select returns with their latest July event. Celebrating women in music, RBSS presents an all-female line-up curated by GIRLSCHOOL, a network of women who promote quality work in the female identifying community. GIRLSCHOOL has a focus on demonstrating the inclusivity and diversity within music, leading to this exciting collaboration with RBSS. Headliner KING will lead the night followed by supporting acts Caroline Smith and Arima Ederra, and DJ sets by Corinne Loperfido and Lizzy Jeff. Bringing this stacked line-up to the Resident in DTLA on July 14th, 2017 the curators hope to showcase “the magic that happens when women come together to create”.
RBSS will open the night with Arima Ederra an LA-based singer songwriter who has worked with artists like Chance the Rapper. The artist’s unique brand of “alternative soul” holds a promising future, following the release of her EP “Temporary Fixes”. Caroline Smith continues the R&B vibe of the night, as the artist has also been on the radar of her own unique brand of soul already having performed with acts like B.B King.
KING tops off the diverse line-up as a band comprised of Anita Bias, and twin-sisters Paris and Amber Strother. Their latest release ‘We Are King’ carries an eclectic mix of genres using a common theme of “soulful authenticity”. Their album has received support from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and more.
The night is set to be a stellar occasion brought by both Red Bull Sound Select and GIRLSCHOOL as pioneering collectives in the LA music scene. Be sure to RSVP, and connect with Red Bull Sound Select to stay up to date on their latest functions.
