LISTEN: Fifi Rong’s Witch House Single ‘The Same Road’

With a haunting certainty, Fifi Rong’s latest single will embed itself in your head after hearing it just once. The beat is demanding and the lyrics pleading, when combined they accentuate the message of desire and heartbreak that is thematically central to the song. The London-based Fifi Rong has released “The Same Road” displaying 80’s synth-pop influences with an uncertain futuristic darkness to the sound Fifi utilizes. The lyrics and music combine to tell the story of a painful break with the vicious cycle life tends to throw us into.

“There is a world inside my solitude, which has been a blessing and a curse. “The Same Road” falls into one of my recurring themes of such inherent paradox and emotional cocktail of vulnerability and strengths” Fifi explains, referring to the single. “There is a stark contrast between musically driven, upbeat energy and heavier lyrical content, reflecting my inner resistance of moving 3 steps forward and 2 steps back, and the determination to break through negative cycles.”

Fifi Rong released “The Same Road” as a follow-up to her successful showcases at SXSW this year, which included a fully-packed house audience at the British Music Embassy. She will be performing at The Great Escape, a music festival held in Brighton, U.K. the second weekend in May. She has begun to acquire mainstream recognition and accolades for her collaborations with artists like electronic music legend’s Yello and English grime artist, producer and songwriter Skepta. As she continues to release more music with original sounds and make appearances, Fifi’s career continues to heat up. She will certainly be an artist to watch over the course of Summer 2017. Her single release party will be held on June 13th at The Waiting Room in Stoke Newington, London.

Aria lives in Silver Lake, Los Angeles with her two cats and two roommates who actually own and care for the cats. She received her B.A. in Sociology from Southeastern Louisiana University and the degree itself now sits in the back of her closet gathering dust. She can usually be found haunting the Echoplex or Charles Bukowski's old hangout, the Smog Cutter. She isn't very friendly but would give you the shirt off her back if you asked, depending on which shirt it is.
