“Are you brave enough to make it on your own?” Front man Enrique Chi asks while seeking an answer through an array of crunchy chords and circling Latin rhythmic sounds. This of course could only be pulled off by Kansas City-based band Making Movies. Since their last album, A La Deriva, the quartet continued to push through the global and political changes, reviving the movement “We Are All Immigrants,” and shining a different light of Latin roots with their cover of “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.”
Never one to shy away from the issues of the world that impacts all, Making Movies stand their ground through the strength of love, with their first single “Brave Enough” off their forthcoming LP, I Am Another You. Capturing the essence of repeated time, and a growing flame of self-inflicted desire, “Brave Enough” isn’t what it is without the collaboration of Hurray for the Riff Raff and Alaina Moore of indie-pop band, Tennis.
Flourishing from Latin Rhythms to a lighter sense of American Rock, “Brave Enough” is captured without aggressive behavior, but in fact the most graceful construction. Duality of voices that bounce from E. Chi’s rugged and sensual tone to the dreamier side of Moore, ultimately melt the track’s sound with a flavor of the past and a hint of resolution for the future. Once again, the sonic pleasing and culture explosion of sounds delivered by Making Movies rallies up anticipation for I Am Another You.
Pre-order the self-release LP, I Am Another You here, as well as catch them on tour.
