Hailing from Washington state, specifically Maple Valley, is dark pop artist Mark Diamond, who fuses his emotive writing style with his somber, and pop ballad structures. Recently on his track “Losing Control” Diamond’s use of alternative and mainstream implementations add a textured touch to the track alongside his, ironically, controlled vocals.
The track opens with a clean and cohesive collection that is the beginning of an emotive ballad fueled by longing keys – an aspect in which Diamond blames the rain for his style of writing. As the track begins to build and unfold, the alternative, emo bits from the early 2000s peak within the background from verse to verse. With the use of these different elements, Diamond skillfully gets his intent across. Diamond carries the track with the heartfelt want in his voice, and a listener discovers that “Losing Control” can be a beautiful thing.
