Los Angeles-based artist Molly Moore released her cinematic video for the single “Natural Disaster” and takes a viewer on a journey of the darkness we all carry, and how it consumes us. Filmed in Huntington Beach, Moore aimed for an artistic and symbolic imagery to capture the emotional haunting of things we create within ourselves. A ballad of raw truth and fears displayed for all to see and hear come rushing down on the keys, and fuels the video’s imagery. Cascading into a sweet change from verse to verse, Moore let’s go musically, as well as within the video.
The video becomes a ballad of raw truth and fears displayed for all to see and hear, as Moore’s relentless fingers rush the keys, fueling the video’s imagery. Cascading into a sweet change from verse to verse, Moore let’s go musically, as well as within the video. Structured around one main intent, Moore comes undone in a natural way that the rawness of emotions are appreciated.
Moore then further states: “The themes & symbolism with imagery are all deriving from the idea that our darkness is a figment of our imagination. We can choose to follow it, or run from it, or let it take us over. I wanted to paint the picture of a cat & mouse chase between body/mind/spirit/light & fear. I liked this concept so much because while it encapsulates the brooding, emotional vibe of the song, I found it to be empowering in a visceral way. Ultimately the message for me was to express this kind of relationship in an artistic, creatively impactful way… I wanted people to question whether the darkness is coming from an external source or if it’s possibly an internal, self-fulfilling prophecy.”
